Every Halloween, there is always a silent contest on who is going to win best costume. But, is creativity or beauty the true elements behind the ultimate ‘winner’? In the age of social media, Instagram is the main platform that celebrities have been using to showcase their spirited ideas. Some people really go all out, while others do more well known costumes or simpler ideas.
Here are some of the best (and worst) costumes from this year in my opinion …
- Heidi Klum: Medusa
Klum has been putting all her energy into her costumes since 2000, with major standout looks such as E.T. and this year’s Medusa. She even had her own Halloween party named after her. After 10 hours in makeup with the help of around 15 people from her team, she brought this idea to life, looking unrecognizable, covered in full glam. She stands in first place securely and well deserved.
- Bebe Rexha
On the other hand, there was Bebe Rexa who went dressed up as Cosmo from the cartoon, Fairly Odd Parents for the night. Here, little effort was shown, definitely on the other side of the ranking for this costume. Although, considering she had gone all out in years past, so this was quite the disappointment.
- Demi Lovato: Poot
Since 2014, there has been a viral meme of Demi Lovato surrounding a photo of her on the red carpet looking like a ghost. People used this image to create an alternate persona and renamed her Poot. This year, Lovato went along with fans for this meme after over ten years since it was created. This idea was a cute way to include herself with her fans in on the joke.
- White Chicks
Larray, a YouTuber, and Quenlin Blackwell, an Influencer and Comedian, did a full glam and turned themselves into the Wilson sisters from the movie White Chicks. In their YouTube video where they shared their process of getting ready, they had a full team working on their face makeup and outfits. Moreover, they began facetimeing family members and were seen as unrecognizable.
- Victoria Justice
With the privilege of being a celebrity, you would think that they would go all out for Halloween. Especially because it is going to be very public. But Victoria Justice did not think that way. Her costume consisted of simple attire. Between the cheap red glasses, simple red dress, horns, cane, and feathered boa, my mom could put together something more iconic.
