If you live in Los Angeles or have social media — so, basically everyone reading this — you’ve probably heard of Erewhon, influencers’ favorite grocery store. The influencers are seen rushing in and out of. Calabasas, Pacific Palisades, Venice, and Beverly Hills are some of the places where you can find Erewhon. The notability of these areas comes alongside the price tag that comes with living and shopping in a “high-end” neighborhood.
Erewhon locations have been hot spots in Los Angeles for years in mostly wealthy neighborhoods like Calabasas, Pacific Palisades, and Beverly Hills, but celebrities and influencers now collabing with the grocery store have increased the store’s profile. Videos of people trying the smoothies, food, vitamins, and many other wellness items started to flood social media as people flocked to Erewhon to try celebrities’ favorite goodies.
Marinna Hawitt and Hailey Bieber kicked off this trend when they launched the “Coconut Cloud” and “Strawberry Glaze Skin” smoothies in 2022. Since then more celebrities and influencers jumped on the trend, including Winnie Harlow and Sofia Richie, who came out with their own instantly in-demand smoothies.

The Erewhon in Venice is right off Abbot Kinney and is a huge hit with tourists and locals alike. When I stopped by that location on a warm Saturday afternoon, I knew it was going to be busy, but I never expected to be bumping into so many people every time I moved.
“We are always busy on the weekends, especially at this time of year because of spring breaks,” said a cafe worker who declined to provide their name.
Behind the man working the register, people were running around prepping orders. The line for the coffee/smoothie bar wrapped around a section filled with flowers and $52 Erewhon candles, almost blocking the entrance.
“I would never [get all of my groceries] at Erewhon, it’s way too expensive and you could find the same food at any other grocery store,” said Isabella Obando, who frequently goes to the Venice location. Obando said that she was, however, persuaded to go and try the $21 sushi sandwich after seeing it on TikTok, and now goes once a week because of how good it is.
