Every Tuesday night I get in bed, grab my goldfish, my laptop and get ready to watch the newest episode of Dancing with the Stars. Fans have broken the voting record week after week this season. A new record was broken on October 28th with 55 million votes casted for “Halloween Night”. I’m watching the dancing, but the costumes always end up stealing the show. In this piece, I will be ranking the couples’ Halloween costumes but instead of competing against each other, the couples will be battling themselves. In case you missed it last Tuesday, DWTS held a Monster-thon along with the individual performances that we see every week. The Monster-thon was a four minute challenge that consisted of nonstop dancing with different dance styles. This means that each pair has two different costumes. I personally liked some of the Monster-thon costumes more than the actual dances. In this piece, I will be putting the two costumes head to head and explain why I picked my winner.
- Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas
For Whitney and Mark’s solo performance, the duo wore green and white striped outfits along with white werewolf looking contacts. I like these outfits a lot, especially because of the touch of lace socks and how they work withWhitney’s green heels. These outfits suited the theme very well and gave major Beetlejuice vibes which goes perfectly with the Halloween theme. Their Zebra Monster-thon outfits were to die for and it was definitely my favorite part of the episode. However, the striped outfits take the cake for me considering it was more on theme with the spooky Halloween vibe.
- Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa
Although Jordan and Ezra’s dance was amazing, their outfits were a little bit boring.. Jordan was dressed in a cream ruched leotard and Ezra in a matching shirt. I do think that it made sense for the contemporary style with the nude colors but, I wanted a little bit more from them. And for their Monster-thon outfits I couldn’t tell what they were so automatically I gave the win to the mummy costumes.
- Andy Richter and Emma Slater
Emma and Andy’s looks from both dances were very similar. Personally their first performance looks were my favorite since Andy had a priest outfit that was an ode to his role in Scary Movie 2. Emma’s hair and makeup also fit way better with their solo performance in her beautiful grey dress with black and white details.
- Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov
For Danielle and Pasha’s first performance both outfits looked like they could’ve been worn during any other week of Dancing With The Stars. They added a blood element to the dance which was a nice touch, but they weren’t very on theme.. Their second looks are a bit more fitting for Halloween as the red racer outfits gave off more of a costume vibe which I appreciated.. I would definitely choose the racer look as the winner.
- Robert Irwin and Witney Carson
I really enjoyed both of the looks that Robert and Witney wore this past week. For their main dance their red velvety looks gave off vampire vibes which I really liked. Both of their makeup looks were very fitting and matched well with their outfits. For the Monster-thon they wore western themed looks which were super cute. Their vampire looks win this round.
- Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik
Jen performed her first dance in what I think was a red mermaid outfit and Jan was in a simple white shirt and black dress pants. This look was a little bit confusing for me since I couldn’t really tell what she was dressed as and Jan was not super dressed up. For their second performance they wore black and white referee outfits. Jen had a bedazzled top and a sparkly skirt. Since they were matching in the second dance I liked these outfits a little more because Jen was the only one who looked like she was in an actual costume.
- Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy
Alix and Val looked scary in their stunning piratey zombie costumes. Alix’s bedazzled skeleton corset and her flowing white and burgundy skirt was beautiful and on theme. Val’s fringed tie and flowy vest that had matching bones on his pants really added so much to the look. For the final dance the two dressed up in Elvis Presley attire. Alix in an adorable white dress and Val in the iconic Elvis suit. I have to say the details of the looks in the first dance really caught my attention and it was my favorite look from the first dances.
- Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach
Dylan and Daniella had another one of my favorite looks from the night in their cheetah print Monster-thon looks. They stunned in their first dance with Daniella’s white lace dress which was beautiful, but the bedazzled fringe leotard and sparkly button up that Dylan wore was definitely my favorite.
