Yesterday, Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles announced a nearly $900 million dollar federal investment to upgrade transportation infrastructure. These upgrades will include traffic safety, public transportation, and mobility access for disabled persons.
All of this is set to be accomplished in just over four years, when Los Angeles is set to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
U.S. Representative Grace Napolitano outlined that this is just the beginning of preparation in Los Angeles for the international and beloved events.
Other government officials have assured Angelenos that the new infrastructure, while created for these specific large-scale events, will last for generations beyond them.
With the Paris Summer Olympics set for this year, the Metro project is likely just the beginning of construction about to hit Los Angeles over the next four years.
